Climb, operated by Change Refund Corp, is a digital wallet service that allows customers to digitize cash change received at participating brick-and-mortar merchants. When a cashier processes a cash transaction and digitizes the customer's change, Climb sends an SMS notification to the customer's phone number confirming the credit to their wallet.
Climb also sends one-time passcodes (OTPs) via SMS to authenticate customers when they log in to view their balance, cash out, or access their account.
This page describes our SMS messaging program, how customers opt in, what messages they receive, and how to opt out.
Customers opt in to receive SMS messages from Climb at the point of sale, via the Climb cashier tablet at participating merchant locations. The opt-in flow works as follows:
Consent is captured at the register on first enrollment. Consent status is stored in our database and checked before any marketing or promotional message is sent. One-time passcodes (OTPs) for account authentication are transactional in nature.
3.1 First-Time Welcome Notification
Sent when a new customer's change is credited for the first time at a participating merchant location.
3.2 Returning Customer Balance Update
Sent on subsequent change credits for existing customers.
3.3 Promotional Credit Notification
Sent when a promotional credit (e.g., a launch bonus) is applied to the customer's account.
3.4 One-Time Passcodes (OTP)
Sent when a customer requests to log in to their Climb account to view their balance, initiate a cashout, or access their card. OTPs expire in 10 minutes.
3.5 Consent Reminder
Sent once (7 days after the cashier first initiated contact in-person) if the customer has not yet confirmed their consent. Never sent without prior cashier-initiated outreach.
We do not send unsolicited marketing or promotional messages. All messages are transactional or account-related.
Message frequency varies based on account activity:
There are no recurring scheduled messages. Climb does not send weekly, monthly, or promotional SMS campaigns.
Customers may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from Climb. After opting out:
To re-subscribe, the customer may reply START to any previous message from our number, or re-enroll at the cashier terminal at a participating merchant location.
Customers may also opt out by emailing admin@savewithclimb.com with "SMS Opt Out" in the subject line.
For help with the SMS program, customers may:
Msg & data rates may apply. Message and data rates charged by the customer's mobile carrier may apply to messages sent and received. Climb does not charge for SMS messages directly.
Phone numbers collected for SMS are used solely to deliver wallet notifications and OTPs. We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes.
SMS messages are delivered via Twilio Inc. as our messaging provider. Twilio receives the phone number and message content necessary to deliver each message. See our full Privacy Policy for details on how we handle personal data.
Phone numbers are stored encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.
